Take Part Project

Body Image - Active Citizens

Take Part is a national three year programme (2008-2011) managed by the Community Development Foundation (CDF) and funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Take Part aims to give people the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to have more of a say about what happens in their areas, and to help shape the decisions that affect their daily lives.

It is hoped that through Take Part, some people will go on to take up lay governance roles (eg local councillors, school governors, or magistrates) and begin to really make an impact on their local community.

Take Part Bradford

There are 18 areas in England which have had a Take Part project in place between 2088 - 2011 and Bradford District was one of these. The programme finished at the end of March 2011 but there has been many some great results from the programme and this section provides useful information and resources relating to Take Part Bradford.

Take Part was coordinated locally in each area by a Take Part Development Officer, working in partnership with local authorities and other key bodies, such as voluntary sector organisations and educational institutions.

Bradford's Take Part project was based at CNet and mainly covered the areas of Girlington & Scholemoor but there were also district wide parts to the project.

The Take Part Development Officer for Bradford worked with local people, supporting them to get more involved in their communities.

You can now download the Take Part Bradford Final Report which provides valuable insights into working with communities to develop active citizenship in deprived communities and beyond.
