Election of Bradford District Assembly Chair October 2017

Nominations are invited for Bradford District Assembly (BDA) Chair

The elected Chair will also represent the Voluntary and Community Sector on the Bradford District Partnership (BDP) Board and at other strategic meetings as appropriate.

Background information

The BDA is made up of thematic forums including:

  • Regeneration & Prosperity (RAP)
  • Health & Well-Being Forum
  • Safer Communities Forum
  • Young Lives Bradford
  • Bradford Environment Forum (BEF)
  • Equalities Forum

Each forum has a chair/co-chair represented on the Assembly Steering Group (ASG) which meets 4 times a year to steer the work of the Assembly and create a conduit between the forums, the wider VCS, the council and other public sector bodies.

  • Leadership for the BDA
  • Negotiating on its behalf, and being a spokesperson for voluntary sector issues.
  • Chairing and Facilitation
  • Assembly Steering Group and Annual Conference and other events if necessary. Reporting to the Assembly and reporting on its work

The Relationship Management Group (RMG)

The BDA Chair and members of the ASG attend regular meetings with lead council officers and the Deputy Leader of the council. Visit the Assembly website for terms of reference, meeting dates and the agreed action plan for this group.

Bradford District Partnership Board (BDPB)

The Partnership consists of key decision-makers and budget holders who can ensure effective delivery of the Community Strategy.

The Assembly Chair is responsible for bringing the perspective of the sector as a whole to discussion, debate and decision making. He/she must consider information and support received via the Assembly, particularly the Assembly Steering Group.




Following the recent request for expressions of interest (above) for the Bradford District Assembly Chair role, we have 2 nominees. The voting deadline is Thursday 23rd November 2017.
