Re-Building Local Food Networks - 28 February 2009
Date: Saturday, 28 February 2009
Time: 10am - 3pm
Venue: Victoria Hall, Keighley
Transition Keighley is inviting commercial and domestic growers and breeders, food and produce retailers and processors, co-operative buyers, consumers, healthy eating and food projects to meet others interested in re-localising the food we grow and eat.
There are many burning questions to discuss:
- How will climate change and peak oil affect our food supplies?
- Can we grow more food locally?
- How do we market, swap or share our food?
- What can we do in a recession?
- What future for small farmers?
- Is there still room for the small retailer?
- What is Community Supported Agriculture?
- Do we have enough land?
- What are food and growing co-operatives?
- Do we need more allotments?
- Can we share allotments and gardens?
- Can local food be healthy, organic, profitable/affordable and non-GM?
If you have a burning issues, a project underway or brilliant innovative ideas that could build the strength and resilience of local food community please come along and share your thinking.
The day will be a mixture of some short presentations, open space discussions, a lunch time indoor picnic (bring and share food and drink), stalls and possibly a film.
