What's On

13 May, 2009 to 06 June, 2009

City of Hidden Treasures - Event to Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Volunteers Week - 6 June 2009

Date:    Saturday, 6 June 2009

Time:    2.00 - 5.00 pm

Venue:  Bradford Cathedral & St Peters House (and in the outside area in between if the sun shines!)

Volunteering Bradford, Bradford Cathedral and Kala Sangam are together organising an event to celebrate 25 years of Volunteers Week. This event will be an opportunity for voluntary, community, statutory and faith based organisations to showcase the value that volunteers contribute to their organisation and to the life of the Bradford District, including to potential new volunteers.

The afternoon will include Exhibitions, participatory arts and cultural activities, entertainment, stalls, and workshops.

The Lord Mayor will be present to open the event, and to launch a new Volunteering Certificate for organisations to give to their volunteers.

We would like organisations to send in a poem, picture, or short narrative which sums up the work of volunteers in their organisation which we can exhibit in either the Cathedral or St. Peters House on the day and during Volunteers Week.

There will also be an Exhibition of Photographs taken by Tony OConnell, showing Acts of Kindness by Bradford people over the last couple of years.

Refreshments will be available.

We hope that as many organisations, volunteers and members of the public as possible will come and join in on the day.
