HealthNet
Promoting and representing the VCS in Bradford and Airedale, HealthNet is a network of voluntary & community sector groups & organisations with an interest in health. The project is now in its second year following a year long pilot. A steering group involving all key partners has been established and meets regularly to direct the work of HealthNet.
This year has been a period of rapid change in health both nationally and at a district level. There has been the development of the Healthier Communities and Older People block of the Bradford Local Area Agreement, the reduction of four PCT’s for the district to one and the changing role of Patient and Public Involvement Forums. HealthNet has ensured that the voluntary sector has been informed of these developments through two fully booked events, email bulletins and communication through the CVS newsletter Briefing Bradford.
Key Achievements:
- Establishing a membership of over 200 voluntary and community sector organisations from across the district.
- Gaining three additional voluntary sector representatives places on key health partnership boards. Reps will represent the views of all health groups in the district at a strategic level.
- Delivering events that keep the sector informed about developments that will impact on their organization.
- Developing a program of training & support for reps to enable them to effectively represent the views of health groups.
- Developing a paper based and online directory of voluntary and community sector health organizations that will be utilised as a tool for GP, voluntary and statutory sector referrals.
Future Plans:
- Induct and train three new reps
- Launch the Health and Self Care Directory
- Organise a program of training events to meet the needs of the HealthNet membership
- Launch the HealthNet news letter
- Make information for members available online
