Aiming High for Disabled Children - Short Break Funding

The Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC) Short Break Funding is designed to enable organisations working with disabled children and young people up to the age of 19 years across Bradford Metropolitan District to provide additional and creative short break provision. The funding is part of the Aiming High Short Break Transformation Programme (AHDC Fund) from the Department of Children, Schools & Families (DSCSF). Bradford has been chosen as a Pathfinder area and CNet (Bradford and District Community Empowerment Network Ltd) is delivering this grant programme on behalf of the Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

This funding will cover the provision of Short Breaks during school holidays, weekends and after school, aimed particularly at those children & young people who commonly fail to access such activities because of a shortage of services. Grants must be used to provide additional places for short breaks and cannot be used to fund existing provision. We are particularly looking for new, creative and innovative ways to engage disabled children and young people and to allow them to have fun.

Between £1,000 and £5,000 is available per organisation. It is accepted that costs will vary enormously depending on the needs of the individual children or young people accessing provision and therefore flexibility will be recognised when assessing applications.

Closing dates:

  • 12 noon Friday 9 July 2010

Targetted Support Fund - This fund has now come to an end

The Office of the Third Sector (OTS) has launched £15.5m Real Help for Communities: Targeted Support Fund to help organisations that are providing key, recession focussed services under one of the themes below:

  • Information, advice and guidance (housing, financial, debt and legal advice and support)
  • Employment and employability (training and support related to finding employment).
  • Health and wellbeing (mental health, relationship breakdown, counselling, domestic violence & substance abuse)

It is funded by the OTS and managed by the Community Development Foundation (CDF). CNet (Bradford and District Community Empowerment Network Ltd) is the Local Funder for Bradford Metropolitan District and is delivering the above Grant Programme of £410,892 to small, local, third sector service providers to communities that are considered most at risk of increasing levels of deprivation as a result of the recession.

The fund provides targeted support to small, third sector, local service providers that are established, are a registered charity or company limited by guarantee, exempted or excepted charities, voluntary and community organisations, or social enterprises, be active in their local community for a minimum of 18 months with a proven track record in delivering the services they want funding for and can evidence income of no less than £30,000 and no more than £250,000 per annum (taken as an average income over the last three financial years, or over the life of the group if it is less than three years old) and are able to evidence that the increased demand on their services is as a result of the recession.

The grant amounts have been designed to allow maximum flexibility balanced with the need to ensure impact. Therefore the maximum grant to a local organisation will be £40,000 and the minimum will be £10,000. The grants must be spent by 31 March 2010.
