Date:The Good Food Bradford project builds on work undertaken by West Yorkshire Trading Standards (WYTSS) with takeaway and hot food outlet businesses in the Featherstone district of Wakefield.
The project, a partnership between Bradford Council (including Trading Standards and Environmental Health), and NHS Airedale, Bradford and Leeds, will, over the two years of its lifetime, work with local takeaway and hot food outlets to increase the number of healthier menu options available, improve knowledge and standards of catering practices, and raise awareness amongst consumers of the benefits of making healthier lifestyle choices.
The initiative links closely with the district's Food Strategy, which reflects the fact that a large number of Bradford residents are becoming more interested in how we produce and consume our food, as well as the relationship between the food we eat, our health and the environment. Bradford has a rich and diverse food sector, ranging from specialist outlets offering traditional favourite meals from the Indian sub-continent, to the relatively new Middle Eastern and Eastern European cuisine.
