As of April 2013, Healthwatch Bradford and District is the new consumer champion for health and social care in our area. Part of the Healthwatch England national network, Healthwatch Bradford and District is a new independent organisation which will give local people a powerful voice to improve and shape services and help them get the best out of local health and social care services.
Healthwatch Bradford and District will: Provide information, advice and support to people about local services; Listen to people's views about their needs and experiences, and make sure these views are listened to by those setting up and delivering services; Have the power to enter and view health and social care services across Bradford district; Produce reports and recommendations which influence the way services are designed and delivered at both a local and national level.
Healthwatch replaces the Bradford Local Involvement Network (LINk), building on its work over the past five years and carrying on with many of its projects, but with additional functions and powers, as set out in the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
Healthwatch Bradford and District will be governed by an independent board, and the process of selecting the chair will begin shortly with nominations being requested from voluntary and community organisations.
