Date:Sharing Spaces is part of Bradford Environmental Education Services (BEES), the environmental department of Bradford YMCA. BEES offers environmental education opportunities to young people, volunteers, community groups, schools and businesses; enabling people to positively shape both outdoor spaces and their own lives. The team have recently been awarded Reaching Communities funding from the Big Lottery to run a Shaping Spaces programme for three years.
The programme will work with young people not in education, employment or training to develop their life-skills and opportunities, while equipping them with accredited practical skills (in partnership with Shipley College) which provide a stepping stone into training and/or employment. Through working on land-based projects around Bradford alongside experienced professionals, young people will gain valuable experience and make a positive difference in their own life and in the community.
The Sharing Spaces programme runs 2-3 days per week for 12 weeks. It is for 16-25 year olds but enquiries for people aged 10-34 years are welcome. The first programme starts in January 2016 but taster sessions will be taking place prior to this.
